NOT YOUR USUAL SUSPECTS

A group blog featuring an international array of killer mystery, suspense, and romantic suspense writers. With premises and story lines different from your run-of-the-mill whodunits, we tend to write outside the box. We blog several times a week on all topics relating to romantic suspense and mystery, our writing, and our readers. We welcome all comments and often have guest bloggers. All our authors can be contacted separately, too, using their own social media links.

We find our genre delightfully, dangerously, and deliciously exciting - join us here, if you do too!

NOTE: the blog is currently dormant but please enjoy the posts we're keeping online.

Daryl Anderson
Daryl is a USA Today bestselling mystery author. Her debut novel Murder in Mystic Cove is the first entry in the Sunshine State Murders, a series of mysteries set in north Florida and featuring resourceful PI Addie Gorsky. Addie’s adventures continue in the forthcoming Death at China Rose. Daryl lives in Gainesville, Florida with her husband and three dogs. When not plotting homicide, she enjoys gardening, vegetarian cooking, and cycling.

Lynne Connolly

Lynne writes for a number of publishers. She writes romantic suspense, paranormal romance, contemporary romance and historical romance. She is the winner of two Eppies (now retitled the EPIC ebook awards) and a goodly number of Recommended Reads etc from review sites.
While these are very gratifying, that isn't why she writes. She wants to bring the stories in her head to life and share them with others, in the hope that they might give her some peace.
She lives in the UK with her family, cat and doll's houses. Creating worlds on paper or in miniature seems to be her specialty!

Marcelle Dubé

Marcelle Dubé grew up near Montreal. After trying out a number of different provinces – not to mention Belgium – she settled in the Yukon, where people still outnumber carnivores, but not by much. Her short fiction has appeared in various anthologies and magazines and she writes across a number of genres. On Her Trail was her first novel. Her second, The Shoeless Kid - A Mendenhall Mystery, was published by Carina Press in May 2011 and launched the series.

Jean Harrington

Jean Harrington swears she ingested ink as an infant, for words are in her blood. Her first job was writing advertising copy for Reed & Barton, Silversmiths, and Jean claims she has the spoons to prove it. Then for 17 year, she taught English literature at Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts. After moving to Naples, she began dreaming of murder—and the award winning, tongue-in-cheek Murders by Design Mystery Series is the result. Currently working on a new series, Jean is up to her knees in dead bodies and loving every minute of it.

Clare London

Clare took the pen name London from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home, she waits for the far distant day when she can afford to give up her day job as an accountant. She's written in many genres and across many settings, with novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she's just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she's happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic and sexy characters.  Clare currently has plenty of other projects in mind: she just has to find out where she left them in that frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home.

Find details of her publications and plenty of free fiction at her website, including an invitation to her mailing list. Visit her today and say hello!

Lisa Q. Mathews

Lisa grew up on a steady diet of Nancy Drew and Agatha Christie, but she’s also a fan of Carl Hiaasen and Tim Dorsey’s zany bad guys and ominously sunny settings. She was a lifeguard, a competitive figure skater, and a Nancy Drew editor before starting to write her own mysteries. She was also Creative Director at Random House Children’s Books and wrote under pseudonym for kids’ series such as Mary-Kate and Ashley and The Lizzie McGuire Mysteries. A native New Englander and Williams College graduate, Lisa has lived in Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, and Nashville. Mom to three grown kids, she now resides in New Hampshire with her husband and a busy Golden Retriever named Farley. Like her co-sleuths, twenty-something Summer Smythe and seventy-something Dorothy Westin, Lisa enjoys swimming, rich desserts, Nora Ephron movies, and above all a good mystery. The Ladies Smythe & Westin series from Carina Press includes Cardiac Arrest and Permanently Booked. The Ladies will be back on the case in September 2016 with Fashionably Late.

Shirley Wells

Shirley was born and raised in the Cotswolds, spent a year living in Cyprus and 12 years on the Orkney island of Hoy. She's now settled in Lancashire, where the Pennines provide the inspiration and setting for her popular mystery novels. She and her husband share their home with an ever-changing selection of deranged pets, who often insist on cameo roles in Shirley's novels.
When she isn't writing, Shirley loves reading (anything and everything), listening to live music, watching TV, eating chocolate and drinking whisky—though not necessarily at the same time. She's also a season ticket holder at Burnley Football Club and can often be seen in the biting wind and pouring rain cheering on her favourite team.

Details of her books can be found on her website. You can also find her wasting time on Facebook and Twitter. Oh, and she talks about anything and everything on her blog.
